Through the toys

Sometimes you find something laying around that has the potential to make a portrait unique. It can be a mirror, flowers, windows, or in the case of the portrait below, a little mermaid toy full of color. Holding it in front of my lens allows me to add color and depth to a portrait of my daughter that would have been busy and bland otherwise. I believe that being able to observe the small things around you, help to make you a better photographer, and sometimes that gives the images a unique perspective. Other times, it adds a special personal touch to the portrait that didn't exist otherwise.
